You were on my mind this Christmas holiday dear Nancie. My call ended up being, too late. I will miss you my dear friend. I will always hold our friendship close to my heart. My prayers are with the family.

I had the privilege of being friends with Nancie for the past 14 years. We met when she adopted Enzo from the Humane Society of Indy, where I introduced the two. Throughout our friendship, she teased me always about how I bamboozled her into adopted a very rowdy dog. She was his hero. She was also a dear friend to me, and I cherished her warmth, good humor, and desire to leave every person and thing she touched better. She and I had an annual date to the Indiana State Fair, and I looked forward to it each year. Several times a year, we’d go out for lunch and spend several hours catching up. This past September, we caught up over burgers for several hours here in Indianapolis, and it’s one of my favorite memories. My husband, Derek, was fond of Nancie as well. We had the good fortune to see her a few weeks ago, when she very generously donated supplies to a local animal shelter, and had us pick them up to deliver them. Nancie was always finding ways to contribute to the world around her. She was a beautiful person, and good to the very core. The world has lost a bright light.

Nancie,
I didn’t know Christmas Eve 2015 would be the last time I would see you. Nor did I know, New Year’s Day 2016 would be the last time we would speak.
You will always be a dear friend…a devastating loss. Although, I’ll never know what or why, I do know you are in a better place.
My thoughts and prayers are with your loved ones.
My Sincerest Condolences,
Arnita M. Williams
